Hook Watch 102

30 July 2022

Well, a welcome bit of drizzle but that was a bit quiet and a bit below average to say the least! 21 species and apart from Greenfinches and Goldfinches, there were very few of any. The total included 1 Wren, 1 Robin, 3 Great Tits, 2 Blackbirds, 2 House Sparrows, 1 Chiffchaff, 1 Blackcap and 1 Common Whitethroat.

There was some action overhead with at least 12 Swifts, lots of Wood Pigeons and a steady stream of Black-headed Gulls, many of which were juvenile/young birds indication some dispersal.

There was a welcome sighting of a single male Reed Bunting which looked a bit bedraggled; unsure whether from the drizzle or moult.

We finished at the unusual time of 09.00 – a short period for us.
