Hook Watch 10

14 September 2019

Very nice in the sunshine it was too but feeling very inadequate with all the exercise groups around. Still they didn’t see 25 species of bird of which the following were the highlights:

GS Woodpecker (twice), Buzzard, Blackcap (1pr), Chiffchaff and the first Song Thrush for a long time.
The more common small stuff was difficult to find but there were good numbers of Robins and Goldfinch about with lower numbers of Wren, Blackbird and Greenfinch. Bird of the morning however was probably the last Sand Martin we’ll see, nicely found by Gill. An unusual bird seen was a female Reed Bunting but with a very short tail – moulting?
Our total now stands at 69 for this session.
